Rachel’s images are photogram portraits - direct exposures of people on photo paper. Not a reproduction of their bodies but their actual shadow and their silhouettes being captured in that moment. Silhouettes, or photogram portraits, in a similar manner to photography, have the ability to seize what is ephemeral, an absence that is a presence.
