Statement

"In 2020, 19/99 beauty commissioned me to photograph their first advertising campaign. That first shoot involved a lot of experimentation- figuring out a brand’s visual language is a process- but we knew that we wanted to make some reference to the photography of the 20s and 30s. That experimentation continued in the post-production process. The image achieves a bit of the surrealist reference that has become so popular since the onset of the pandemic."

"I was commissioned by Kinfolk magazine to photograph Lido Pimienta, the Polaris Music Prize winning Columbian Canadian artist.  Lido has even more creative energy that any camera can capture- it’s evident in her music, her art, all of her various creative projects, and even the way she navigates her voluminous stage costumes, down to her baby finger.  Lido understands the importance of well-applied drama."
